Similarities and Differences between MOE Mainstream Schools and the Organisations visited 2.1 Fernvale Gardens School (FGS) 2.1.1 Curriculum Philosophy In 2012, Ministry of Education introduced the SPED curriculum framework: `Living, Learning and Working in the 21st century’. Like the mainstream Singapore Teaching Practice, the framework aims to guide the schools in providing quality teaching and learning. SPED Curriculum Framework (Source: MOE, 2012) While this framework guides the four MINDS (Movement for the intellectually disabled of Singapore) in planning its curriculum, each MIND school further creates their own unique framework to have an owned identity. For Fernvale Gardens, it is the HEART framework (H-Holistic Development, E-Engage Partnership, A- Assessment for and of Learning, R- Reflective Practice, T- Technology). 5
