mlp ’ s Education committee has done a great job presenting speakers along with topics of interest to members and our on-demand webinars continue to resonate well with landscape professionals across the state . The opportunity to learn and earn valuable CEU credit in a convenient online format has been well received and will likely continue throughout the year .
JANUARY
One of our industry ’ s leading safety experts , Dr . John Ball came to us all the way from South Dakota State University to deliver Emergency Response in the Field : What ’ s in Your First Aid Kit ? He provided potentially life-saving information on how to be prepared for emergencies on the job site . In addition to a what is essential in a well-stocked first aid kit ( see below ), he provided case studies for common injuries and effective way to respond in an emergency .
Essential First Aid Kit Items
• Gauze pads ( at least 4 " x 4 ")
• Two large gauze pads ( at least 8 " x 10 ")
• Box adhesive bandages ( band-aids )
• One package gauze roller bandages ( at least 2 " wide )
• Two triangular bandages
• Wound cleaning agent such as sealed moistened towelettes
• Scissors
• At least one mylar thermal blanket
• Tweezers
• Adhesive tape
• Latex gloves
• Resuscitation equipment such as airway or pocket mask
• Two elastic wraps
• Splint
• Directions for requesting emergency assistance
