Technology and innovation
Equipment manufacturer Epiroc
has sold its first BenchREMOTE
in South Africa. The company
sold the monitoring system to Elf
Drilling, a Northern Cape company.
BenchREMOTE can be linked to one,
two, or three SmartROCs and is ideal
for removing the operator from the
danger area, taking them away from the
noise and the dust and from drilling
in hazardous areas near the high wall,
thereby contributing to elevated safety
levels.
Elf Drilling, since its inception three
decades ago, undertakes drilling and
sampling for the Northern Cape mining
industry. Operating as a complementary
team, Faghmi Cader and Eduard and
Lizelle Mostert are leading Elf Drilling
into the new age of automation drilling.
Consisting of a regional office in
Kathu, a head office in Kimberly, and a
workshop in Kuruman, and supported by
a team of 145 employees, the company
boasts extensive experience across
South Africa, as well as in Namibia and
Angola.
Elf Drilling is also a manganese
specialist and operates on two of
the largest manganese mines in the
Northern Cape. Featuring an Epiroc
fleet of 25 machines, Elf Drilling
procured its first Flexiroc D65 in 2012
and, more recently, received delivery of
two SmartROC D65s, together with the
BenchREMOTE in 2018.
Finger on the pulse
Epiroc’s BenchREMOTE can operate up to three SmartROC drill rigs.
KSB expands its aftermarket services
KSB Pumps and Valves is intensifying its
focus on aftermarket services that add value
to customer operations far beyond the supply
and maintenance of its own products.
In future, the company will also extend
its services and engineering expertise to
include maintenance of entire systems,
reverse engineering of rotating equipment,
and system optimisations. This includes
maintenance of third-party peripheral
equipment to ensure its clients’ systems
perform optimally at all times.
“Our aftermarket engineering teams can
also remanufacture, or reverse engineer,
equipment that is no longer available but
necessary to meet clients’ requirements,”
says KSB Pumps and Valves SupremeServ
division manager, Grant Glennistor.
Make sure your products/services are seen
by the correct target market.
