Philex Mining Academy’s main thrust is to strengthen the talent pipeline through extensive people search,
technical and leadership trainings, certifications, and immersion. Initially, it offered an 18-month
pre-boarding training and development program for newly licensed metallurgical and mining graduates, or
more commonly known as cadets.
In a move to fully equip PMC employees with the most updated knowledge and tools in electrical
management, a collaborative project between PMA and Meralco Power Academy (MPA), the Electrical
Management Program (EMP) was established. In both mining and the power generating industry, this
partnership is considered ground-breaking. It opens possibilities to more shared initiatives between corporate
training institutions in the MVP Group of Companies. In line with the objectives of both PMA and MPA, EMP will
produce electrical management training programs that will utilize the technical expertise, facilities, and
resources of the two companies. Under this partnership, EMP expands and advances the competencies of the
electrical engineering teams in Padcal.
In a statement, HR Manager for Special Projects and PMA Head Marites Valerio said, “Our goal is to achieve
