MARTHA MACCALLUM,
anchor and executive editor
of The Story with Martha
MacCallum on Fox News
Channel, will be at Indigo,
the bookstore in the Mall at
Short Hills, to read and sign
copies of her just-published
Unknown Valor. The book
pays tribute to the heroic
men who gave their lives
defeating Japanese forces at
Iwo Jima — among them,
Harry Gray, a member of
her own family. Copies of the book will be
available for purchase ($28). Since joining
Fox News in 2004, MacCallum has inter-
viewed high-profile public figures who
served in the military, including John
McCain and General David Petraeus. When Livingston resi-
dent Joanna Lander’s
first son turned 1, she
baked and decorated
100 bow and bowtie
cookies in every color.
The experience gave way
to a family tradition, and
seven years later, a busi-
ness. IN THE MIX BY
JOANNA provides hand-
rolled and decorated, fully customized cookies and choco-
late chip cookie cakes for all occasions. Orders are placed
by the dozen, as platters or individually wrapped cookies
(the latter most commonly for party favors), and can be
inspired by provided photos. To date, she has sold and
shipped over 6,000 cookies nationwide. In the Mix
cookies are also available online at Seymour’s Deli in
Livingston, The Messy Artist in East Hanover and
Beebeedesigns.com. Prices range from $45 to $65
per dozen; orders require about a week to fill.
