What have you read lately? Ilove toread books that inspire. Two that have recently had a big impact are Bill Walton’ s Back from the Dead, a memoir from the sports and cultural icon, and Matthew Kelly’ s Resisting Happiness, which talks about how to be the best versions of ourselves.
Taking aLookatWesty...
Under your leadership, Investors has achieved an outstanding level of performance. How did you help to make this happen? Ioften compare my story to the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. With alot of hard work and alittle luck, success happens. Iwork with atalented management team and together we have created something special. By changing the bank’ sbusiness plan and culture, we transformed the product mix from aresidential lender to a full-service community and commercial bank serving customers throughout the New Jersey / New York metropolitan area. In guiding this strategic expansion and evolution, Investors continues to experience significant growth while remaining financially strong and well-capitalized.
What makes Investors different from other community banks? In 2005 Investors established a Foundation to enrich the lives of New Jersey and New York citizens supporting initiatives in the arts, education, youth development, affordable housing and health and human services. It’ s a grassroots foundation that allows our employees to support the charitable organizations for which they have a passion. To date, the Foundation has pledged more than $ 16 million dollars to the communities we serve. We strive to be exceptional corporate citizens and hope to change people’ s lives for the better.
What charities do you support? What are some supported by the bank? Ihave supported many charities over the years including All Stars Project, Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children, St. Peter’ s Preparatory School, Summit Speech School, Liberty Science Center and, most recently, Greater Trenton. We have folks involved in Bridges Outreach and in almost every sector of non-profit initiatives – our Foundation has led to unbelievable successes for our communities. We are big supporters of Paper Mill Playhouse – the Bank is a seasonal sponsor and the Foundation supports the theater’ s Rising Star Program.
What do you think of President Trump?
The climate is constantly changing, especially in light of a Trump presidency. Iamtaking await and see attitude. It will certainly be interesting to observe what is coming as far as fiscal stimulus and tax reform. But after all, Mr. Trump is abusinessman so Iamhopeful and optimistic. ■
