Can you share something the public might not know about you? My father worked two jobs as a policeman and an ironworker. Both my brother and I thought we’ d follow in his footsteps and set out to be ironworkers. I apparently was not very good and my father advised me to stay in school.
Can you share alittle about your family? Ihave been married to my sweetheart, Patricia, for 35 years. What can Isay? She makes me abetter person. Every weekend, we take asix-mile walk to catch up, enjoy one another’ s company and burn afew calories at the same time. We have four grown children – two boys and two girls, Katie, Kevin, Mary and Will – and have instilled in each one the importance of putting othersfirst through goodwill and charity. People do what they see, not what they hear, and Patricia and Ihave always tried to set an example as active, contributing members of our community.
Being at the helm of abank takes its toll – how do you stay healthy? Itry to maintain a healthy life balance through four rituals. Exercise every day, read good books, incorporate spiritual reflection through quiet time and prayer and make time for family and loved ones. Three years ago, I made a pledge to get healthier. I joined Equinox, work with a personal trainer there and do some running during the week. Now I can enjoy my favorite sandwich, Millburn Deli’ s turkey gobbler, with a little less guilt. Every Saturday, I play basketball at the Summit Community Center with a group of guys and afterwards we head over to the Peppercorn Restaurant in Summit for a well-earned meal. They even held a table for us during Hurricane Sandy when it was impossible to get aseat with everyone rushing in to charge their cell phones and electronic devices.
