FROM A YOUNG AGE, DR. CHRISTEL HUMMERT WAS FASCI-
NATED BY THE FIELD OF ORTHODONTICS; SHE WAS DRAWN TO
A CAREER THAT WOULD ALLOW HER TO INTERACT WITH MANY
DIFFERENT PEOPLE, WHILE PROVIDING THEM WITH A GREAT
SERVICE. She is thrilled with her choice. “Orthodontics is
a very rewarding career. The results are amazing. There is
nothing like watching a patient see their new smile for
the first time!”
Now celebrating her 15th year in private practice, Dr.
Hummert is admired by patients and colleagues alike for the
beautiful and healthy smiles she creates for both adults and
children. In fact, her skills are held in such high regard that
many referring dental colleagues entrust Dr. Hummert for
both their own orthodontic care and their children’s.
As part of the conservative, clinically appropriate, and per-
sonalized treatment plans she develops for her patients, Dr.
Hummert uses a variety of orthodontic options, including tra-
ditional braces, clear braces, Invisalign and Invisalign Teen,
as well as interceptive treatment when indicated. Her state-of-
the-art office features the latest technology, including digital
radiographs and the iTero digital scanner, which virtually
eliminates the need for messy impressions.
“Success is knowing that I am helping patients improve their
quality of life by giving them a beautiful and healthy smile,”
Dr. Hummert said. “Beautiful straight teeth and a good bite
are healthier and easier to clean and provide a priceless boost
in self-confidence.”
After Dr. Hummert completed her undergraduate educa-
tion at Haverford College, she went on to graduate from
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and earn her
orthodontic specialty certificate from Columbia University.
Soon after graduation, she earned her board certification
from the American Board of Orthodontics. Only one-third
of orthodontists are board certified. Dr. Hummert strives to
always stay at the forefront of the latest in procedures and
technology; she regularly exceeds the annual requirements
for continuing education courses. Dr. Hummert also partici-
pates in the American Association of Orthodontists Donated
Orthodontic Services program, through which she donates
care to patients in need.
Dr. Hummert is a native of Union County and currently
resides in Millburn with her husband, two children and a duo
of Scottish terriers named Angus and Clyde. Although work
and family do not allow for much free time, she enjoys gar-
dening and reading when time allows.
