GO WITH THE FLOW
Saeed removed a series of sliding doors that separated the first floor into a traditional kitchen,
dining room and living room. At the point where the wall tile ends, where formally the kitchen
was closed off, the space now flows naturally into the dining area. The butcher block counter-
top and the surround of Carrara marble turned out to be ideal choices for the eventual buyers,
a couple from Manhattan. “He’s a real baker, and loves that it’s a chef’s kitchen,” Saeed says.
“If you’re a baker, you want a marble counter top because it’s a good surface for kneading
dough.” Sealing the marble annually, she adds, allows the marble to stand the test of time.
PRETTY, YET PRACTICAL
The kitchen is easy to navigate, and is the location for a lot of useful storage areas.
The solid wood double barn doors open to a pantry; continue through the room,
and you get to mechanical and powder rooms, and the entrance to the garage.
