The summer golf season has now ended and the weather has changed. According to most of the people I’ve
talked to the last summer was the best in over a decade. It was nice watching the golf course transition from
fall to winter. It’s amazing how different the golf course looks now than two months ago. I recommend you
make your tee times earlier the next few months.
If you have not heard by now we’ve hired Sequoia Golf to manage the Club and we’ve hired Cory Carper
as our General Manager. Cory comes to us from Orchard Hills Country Club in Bryan, Ohio where he was
the head pro for 12 years and the last three years he acted as the general manager and head pro. If you have
not met Cory yet please introduce yourself to him.
We’ve also elected two new Board members - Chris Jacobson and Rick Jorgensen. They have replaced Paul
Clampitt and Judy Weitz who each served three years on the Board. We appreciate the time and dedication
they gave to our club. Julie Waxham recently resigned from the Board because she and her husband are
moving to Arizona. Sandy Baker will be taking over for Julie and serve on the Board until September. Other
Board members include Bob Byrd, W oody Heron, Sam Park, Tom Libby and Joe Upton.
Earlier this month Robin Richards resigned after 23 years working in different capacities at the Club. The Club
honored her service by throwing a going away party for her which was well attended. We wish the best of
luck to Robin in her future endeavors and she will be missed by all.
The Board would like to thank Frank Hammer, Glenn Davis, Bob Byrd, Rick Jorgensen, Linda Pachl, Kelly
Denessen, Dennis Wanamaker, Lawson Abinanti, Al Towle, Gary Klokstad, Travis, Matt and Conner and the
rest of the crew in the pro shop who participated in the work party on October 14th. The group cleared the
area along the creek running through the driving range and installed netting to prevent balls from going into
the creek. They also cleared other areas of the driving range and retrieved approximately 6,000 balls from
the creek and surrounding areas.
The Wine Committee hosted their 3rd Annual Holiday Wine Tasting & Wine Buying Fair on November 8th
and 88 people attended. Six wineries were featured along with four distributors who provided other wines.
The crowd was entertained by Razz who played the electric violin and sang. Chef Joe put together a nice
display of light appetizers to go along with the wine. In the end they sold 32 cases of wine at great prices. A
special thanks goes out to Sharonne Ault, Bonnie Eaton, Kitty Pitzer, Tom Libby, Don Borman, Susan Wilson,
Patrick Smith, Rob Slabaugh and Edna Kuipers.
The club has many challenges ahead. The Equity Plus Membership payoffs are coming due in June and so far
we’ve had five extend their payoffs. We are hopeful that some of the others will extend. The Club is finalizing
details of a new $100,000 membership that will be offered to replace the Charter Equity Plus memberships
that are not going to be extended. The Club will start promoting the new $100,000 memberships this winter.
There are already some members who have shown an interest in buying this new membership.
With the Holiday season upon us, the Clubhouse will be busy with company Christmas parties, family get
togethers and member dining. Please remember to make reservations. I would like to wish you and your
family the best during the Holiday Season and may all your wishes come true.
Sincerely,
Bart Pitzer
