Project Progress Report 4. Objectives of the proposal i. To evaluate an Ayurvedic Treatment Protocol to bring long term remission among migraine patients. ii. To evaluate the efficacy in reducing the intensity and frequency of pain and associated symptoms in migraine patients. iii. To evaluate the Ayurveda approach in migraine patients using modern scientific parameters. 5. Methodology All the chronic/refractory migraine patients, who presented to the neurology OPD, were included in the study. Patient who failed 3-4 adequate trials of preventive medicines, alone or in combination, from at least 2 of 4 drug classes including: beta-lockers, anticonvulsants, tricyclics, and calcium channel blockers and those who also failed adequate trials of abortive medicines, including both a triptan and dihydroergotamine (DHE) intranasal or injectable formulation and either non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or combination analgesic, unless contraindicated were included. Patients were randomized to Ayurvedic Treatment Protocol and Conventional Treatment by random sealed opaque envelopes. a) 6.1) Inclusion Criteria: 1. Age/sex  Male or female patient age 18-65 years 2.
