Pursuit of Happiness

A dystopia is what this place is. A place where nobody wants to be. Nobody knows how they ended up in this poor excuse of a world; but we all know we aren’t getting out of this place. It all started out with the master at least that’s what he tells us to call him. He put everybody in this place for a reason, but I don’t seem to have one. I am the one that stands out in this place. I feel like I don’t belong, some people even think so. All of us hate this place a cold dark place full of poverty and starving people. Including me I live with my parents and my sister. Hoping one day we all get out of this place.
We all go about our day of doing are jobs. Only few people have jobs; me and my dad work to support my sister and mother. We all here the voice of the master; “Attention, Attention we are getting news of horrible weather. We all advise you to stay indoors for any extreme conditions.” Everyone started to get worried but we knew nothing extreme would happen. So as hours of work passed by, my dad and I went inside our house and ate dinner with my mother and sister. We heard a couple of noises but didn’t really worry about it; we didn’t know what lay ahead of us that day.
We Heard thunder and rain swooshes all around us. People screaming all around us with sorrow. I open the door and it swings open “WHOOSH” I fall back to see my mother with a scared face. “This isn’t good “I say I get up cautiously aware of the tornados hurling toward us only to see we are surrounded by them. We all jump into our tiny house that is barely standing we wait until we hear no noise’s around us. My father takes a look outside… his face turns brightly pale with a horrible look on his face. “What do you see outside father?” Nothing. “What do you mean nothing?” I take a look outside to see nothing but torn up houses… but not one sound no birds chirping no people talking not even a whisper.
We all walk out at once too see dust surrounding us. I look all directions only to find nothing but dirt. I explore around to see if anybody survived the weather. Sadly I find no one not one breathing soul in this place. Strangely I do not here the master neither. I would’ve of thought the master would be alive because he was the ruler of this sickening place, but gladly he isn’t. I re-group with my father, mother, and sister. When we do we all stay quiet for a long period of time hoping we would all wake up from a bad dream.
We all took actions in our hands we started to look for food and what was salvaged of the horrible weather. We all separate to find anything that we can use. My dad says to me “We will have to leave this town”. We go back and tell my mom and sister what we have to do to survive. “We all have to move from place to place to see if there is any hope anywhere else to live.” My mom agreed, we all started to pack everything we found and that was salvaged and put into bags and off we went. We weren’t so sure where we were going but anything was going to be better than this place.
