The Little One that Came by: Omar Rodriguez
As I walk home from school, I see my parent waiting outside. “Get in the car Omar. Lorena is in the hospital. She is going to have her baby today.” My mom said.
“When did she go to the hospital?” I asked.
“She was put into the hospital at 12. She can have it any moment between today and tomorrow. The doctor said she was most likely to have it in the morning like around 4 or 5.” My mom said.
“Ok.” I said. We drove to the hospital. We got there and she was in the room lying down on her phone. She looked calm. I thought she was going to be in a lot of pain, but she was pretty calm for a pregnant person about to give birth. “How do you feel?” I asked.
“I’m in a little pain, but I’m glad this little monster is going to come out already. “She said. After that the nurse came in to check her. She said that everything was going good. My sister asked her if she could eat, because she hadn’t eaten in all day, but the nurse said no. After hearing that my sister got a little disappointed.
A couple hours went by and still nothing, but Lorena was going in a lot of more pain. I had never seen her like that, but she was getting sleepy so she didn’t look that bad. Everyone was anxious for the baby to come out, but he just wouldn’t come. It was 8 and after a long day most of us were getting sleepy, but none of us wanted to go to sleep because we were waiting for the baby to come out. My other sister, Brenda, and I were tired, but we didn’t want to miss the birth of our nephew.
At around 12 Brenda and I were falling asleep, and my mom noticed that. “Go to sleep in that waiting room in the front and we will call you guys when he is coming out.” She said. We walked to the waiting room area and fall asleep for a little while. After about two hours one of Ivan’s friends came running towards us and told us that it was time. Without even being aware of what was going on I grabbed my things and ran to the delivery room. As I walked in I saw Lorena propped up and ready to give birth.
