We have seen spring allergies affecting the eyes , noses and throats of our students this past month ! As we look ahead to more beautiful May blooms , please keep in mind the clinic does not stock routine antihistamines for your children . Please have them take their doses at home or send extra in a labeled bottle to the nurse for the occasion doses are missed at home .
If you have rising kindergartners or 7th graders , or any new-to-CPA siblings for the upcoming school year , please begin to gather your child ’ s Tennessee Immunization Certificate from their pediatrician . As part of a new process , parents will be able to upload these required forms to MyCPA . It is also a great time to schedule a sports physical ! �ank you and stay healthy , Lions !

Academics

Sixth Grade
For sixth grade , one of the highlights of April was being asked to partner on a service project with Tennessee Serves , an initiative of First Lady Maria Lee and the Governor ' s office . �e project was to help Meals of Hope to distribute to food banks in distressed counties around the state of TN . �e goal was to pack 15,000 meals . �e sixth grade students exceeded this by packing 16,704 meals which could potentially feed 60,000 people ! �e science students are in Phase 2 of our water bottle rocket lab . Students are discovering what went wrong with phase one and try to make an adjustment to get a higher launch by changing nose cone , nose cone ballast weight , fin size , and fin placement .
Writing Grammar is in their final week of writing the research paper on Heros of the Faith . �e research paper process in the middle school is very detailed and organized . It allows the students to truly learn the different stages of researching , writing , peer editing , and then preparing the final dra� . In LIterature , sixth graders are finishing reading �e Outsiders and will watch the classic movie a�er the final unit test . World Geography is wrapping up the year with the Asia Unit . Activities include exploring the world religions of Hinduism / Buddhism , cultural analysis of various regions of Asia , and celebrating the unique cultures through Asian art expressions .
�e Math 6 students are starting the Geometry unit where they will be finding the area of basic shapes as well as composite figures . In Pre- Algebra , the students are starting the Statistics unit where they will be studying scatter plots and doing various activities to collect data and analyze their graphs . �ey will then be introduced to probability and use different games to help visualize and deepen their understanding of the concepts . �e Bible class students have loved hearing the testimony presentations and what God has done and is doing in the person they chose to interview . �e Bible students also chose one of the miracles of Jesus and are creating a Stop Motion project to present to the class . �is is always an all time favorite project as they love any excuse to use legos !
Seventh Grade
In seventh grade Math 7 and Pre Algebra , students are learning about different ways to display data that has been collected , how we can use this data to predict things , and how probability expresses the likelihood of an event happening . Bible students consider “ Man looks on the outward appearance , God looks upon the heart ” in the life of David . In Writing / Grammar , students are learning to classify and utilize the four sentence types : simple ,
