which existed from the middle of the 4th millennium until the last quarter of
the 3d millennium BC.
In the Armenian Highland the ceramics production of Early Bronze
age stands out by its art of decoration. Although the decoration of the pottery
of that period has always been a subject research, a comprehensive study has
not been done yet.
To understand and particularize the pecularities of method of
execution of form of decoration we have conducted research on the base of
materials. We have explored the materials of monuments in Agarak, Aragats,
Mokhrablur, Shengavit, Shirakavan, Fioletovo and other places to understand
and distinguish the methods of embellishment. It is important to study the
methods of embellishment to reveal the art of decoration of pottery of Early
Bronze Age. In this regard, we have conducted an experiment to restore a
decorative motive performed by impressing, which was found during the
excavations of Early Bronze Age settlement in Agarak. The method of
impressing has its varieties - decoration of fingertips (cannelure) and
decoration of dimple (method of compression).
This attempt is our first experiment in studying the methods of
decoration of motives in the culture of Early Bronze Age.
