T IMES MID HUDSON Vol. 30, No. 28 3 JULY 11 - 17, 2018 Project managers unveiled details on a plan to develop three valuable pieces of City of Newburgh-owned properties at City Hall last week. The long-awaited presentation offered information on proposed funding, taxes and proposed affordable housing. “Over the last few months, we’ve really listened to everyone’s concerns and we’ve done our best to refine our project so that it meets everyone’s needs,” said Karuna Mehta, projects manager with Alembic Community Development, speaking at Newburgh City Hall last Thursday. Alembic proposes to restore the historic Dutch Reformed Church and the former City Club property on Grand Street. WWW.MIDHUDSONTIMES.COM Republican Sakima McClinton is seeking the NY 104th Assembly seat that covers the Cities of Poughkeepsie, Beacon and Newburgh as well as the Towns of Lloyd, Marlborough and Newburgh. The seat is presently vacant, having been held by the late Frank Skartados. McClinton, a Poughkeepsie native, attended West Point and attained the rank of Army Captain during her service in the Iraq War. She has also worked on humanitarian relief efforts in Central America and presently serves as the first female Commander of the VFW, District 2. After her military service Sakima returned home and started her own business, has worked to improve educational opportunities for her daughters Roshauna (14) and Jordan (4) and other children by serving on the City of Poughkeepsie School Board, finishing her tenure as its first female president.
