STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Brandon Leifermann Don Howe
Brandon Leifermann has been the Financial Controller for
Mid-County Coop since 2015. He enjoys the responsibilities
of fi nancial accounting, managing the offi ce, and occasionally
tending to human resource needs. Brandon prefers his Mid-
County position to his past accounting work. “I manage a lot
more here. The work I do feels like my own, and that allows
me to take pride in my work,” he says. He also enjoys his co-
workers and appreciates working with the offi ce staff. Don Howe currently works in Energy Sales at Mid-
County Coop. Don boasts an extensive career in marketing
and sales in the oil and ethanol industries. After retiring a
few years ago, Don was interested in supporting the energy
industry in a part-time capacity. At Mid-County, Don enjoys
meeting with existing and potential customers one to two
days per week.
When not at work, Brandon enjoys many hobbies,
including wakeskating, golfi ng, and boating. He also enjoys
disc golf and recently partnered with the Lions Club to design
a new course in Cologne. Brandon enjoyed partnering with
the local Lions Club and creating a new recreation option for
the community. When he is not busy on sales calls, Don enjoys
competing in state senior golf tournaments and reports
winning a few of them. He also enjoys hot yoga three to
four days a week where sessions can reach temperatures
of 105 degrees Fahrenheit. “You get used to it,” Don assures.
This March, Don and his wife will take some time off and
enjoy the warmer temperatures in Arizona.
Steve Salz Jon Wulf
Steve Salz has been part of Mid-County Coop’s Agronomy
department since 2012. While Steve focuses on sales, soil
sampling, and mapping, he also handles everything from
application to customer support. Steve explains, “I do a little
bit of everything to help keep things rolling smoothly for
our customers’ needs.” Jon Wulf has been a truck mechanic at Mid-County for
almost two years. He enjoys working on over-the-road trucks
of any size, but the bigger trucks are his favorite. “With larger
vehicles, there is more to take apart and fi gure out. It is a
bigger puzzle, and I like that challenge,” he explains.
Jon likes the relaxed attitude of his co-workers at Mid-
County and appreciates having fun at work. However, when
it comes to mechanics, Jon takes his job seriously. When
someone comes in with a problem, he is determined to solve
it and get people back on the road as soon as possible.
Growing up on a family farm gave Steve his start in
agriculture. On the farm, he learned the business of raising
grain and livestock. He also owned a business in the
construction fi eld for 20 years. At Mid-County he combines
his agricultural and business knowledge to help farmers
with their unique needs. When Steve is not assisting Mid-
County customers, you may fi nd him enjoying a fi let steak
with a nice glass of cabernet and spending time with his
family.
This winter, Jon enjoyed snowmobiling and playing
with his kids out in the snow. As spring approaches, he looks
forward to the garden season. Some of the vegetables he
plans to grow include tomatoes, green beans, and peppers.
