My Fellow Jaycees,
One of history’s great thinkers, Sir Isaac Newton said, "If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders
of giants." As I reflect on my past involvement and look forward to serving as Michigan State President, I cannot help
but consider how much these words apply to the Junior Chamber movement. For the past 90 years through today,
our organization can be proud of the impact we have created – not only through projects that benefit the
communities we serve, but in the continuous development of our membership into proactive leaders committed to
personal and professional growth. Without a doubt, our collective action has changed the world for the better.
It is with this humble understanding of our history and values, that I am honored to be leading this great organization
during this landmark year. Building on the experience and successes of past leadership, I am encouraged by the
enormity of positive momentum that our young leaders are capable of producing in not only our local communities,
but also globally. With the Michigan Junior Chamber mobilizing the resources of its membership in high visibility
projects such as supporting the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, assisting in the fight against human
trafficking, and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to help research a cure for cancer, we have once again
positioned ourselves as the marquee civic leadership organization.
Recognizing this significant responsibility, I will remain diligent and steadfast in my role of inspiring our members to
