Dear Michigan Jaycees, Alumni, and Guests,
Thank you for joining us at this great benchmark in our history. It has been 90 years since we began as an
organization. The impact we as a group of civic minded leaders have made on our great state of Michigan
continues to have an effect on all our lives today.
That effect is most noticeable as one of the dozens of "Jaycee Parks" that you can find in many communities today,
or "Jaycee Week," officially recognized by Governor Granholm in 2007.
However, many people are unaware that when the state of Michigan needed help ratifying what is now our current
state constitution, they turned to us to get the job done. Or that as a group, the Michigan Jaycees have been the
leading American Cancer Society Fundraiser amongst all Jaycee states for the last three years.
And none of these examples speaks to the millions of dollars for charity raised, monuments and capital
improvements built, parades and festivals held, and countless man hours of volunteering done by our local chapters.
Michigan Jaycees, our long and esteemed history is something that should be a source of pride for us all. We have
always made Impact for Tomorrow, as we continue to show the world that WE BUILD LEADERS.
