ABSTRACT
The recreational reading is a pedagogical strategy base on the motivation from
different activities around the reading with the purpose of improving the reading
comprehension of the fourth grade primary students of the educational institution
Villa Estrella, designed, implemented and evaluated from the constructivist theory in
which the human being makes a link between the cognitive level and his previous
knowledge to organize a concept of his own. This allows the individual to think,
review, analize, and assimilate mean ingful information.
For this reason, entertaining activities are proposed to awaken interest in reading,
generating new knowledge that will alow students to achieve a better performance
for their academic, personal and integral education.
Among the theorists with a constructivist approach that underpin the project are
Piaget, Vigotsky and Ausubel.
Takin into account that comprehension is a process in wich the reader and the text
intervene, the project guides the improvement of comprehension from the
approaches of Isabel Sole in the subprocesses of comprehension strategies and
levels of reading comprehension, and the cognitive strategies set forth by Goodman.
Alzo, the curricular guidelines of castilian language are taken into account, since
they are part of the language competences for reading as semantics and pragmatics.
Finally, an esencial element in this project is the motivation, there fore, the
contributions of Porlán represent a broad path based of the planning of motivating
activities that enrich the process of construction of meanings.
The project is of qualitative tipe with descriptive character, from the action research
methodology, developed in four phases: diagnosis, design, implementation and
evalution of results.
