As the second half began, McBob’s got a much needed reprieve as Fortier and Shannon Meller swapped positions (Full-forward and Goalie.) Taking advantage of the lineup change, and clearly motivated to climb out of the hole they were in, McBob’s defenders amped up their play, launching an assault on the Brocach Defense gaining an additional goal and a pair of points. Bandits Liam Raasch, Mike Stuht and Darragh McNamara held faith in their Brocach brethren; consistently breaking up Gael Wind drives and launching the ball to their own offense. Still cruising at full speed, Brocach retained their lead at the water break with a score of 6-15 (33) to Gael Winds 3-3 (12).
The final quarter saw a flurry of action as McBob’s continued their Sisyphean feat of climbing out of a the incredible scoring chasm. As the action from previous quarters began to take its toll on the Brocach team, McBob’s seemed to be catching a second win. Gael Winds Matthew “Parkay” Goelz, Pat Foley and Captain Kyle Christenson battled for each possession, often turning the tide in their direction. The final push came too late though. Unable to overcome by the incredible display by Brocach in the first half, the whistle mercifully signaled the end of the game with Brocach victorious 7-19 (40) to 4-6 (18).
