MHC Dish From the Pitch 2014 Week 5 | Seite 17

Then came Trinity’s Ronnie Hansen. Although he worked to keep the midfield active in the first half, in the second half, Hansen’s fast and furious soloing not only helped to move the sliotar from the midfield through Pub’s halfback line- and beyond- several times but also resulted in his single-handedly delivering points for Trinity as well. As Pub’s defense, again, recovered and adjusted to close down his soloing efforts, Trinity halfbacks Nick Neuman- with tireless assistance from Jesse Rodriguez and the ever undaunted Aislinn Leonard- kept the sliotar from penetrating into Pub’s offensive striking range.

In the end, a superb showing from Trinity’s newer players combined with the technical skills of their more seasoned veteran players created an advantage that Pub’s intense offensive attacks and brawny defense couldn’t counter. With a final time score of Trinity’s 2-16 (22) to Pub’s 2-7 (13), the Irish Pub look to spark their season following a next round “bye” week while the Trinity Rebels move ahead with a breakeven 2-2 record and a chance to reinvigorate their playoff hopes against the offensive machinery of Burke’s Irish Castle next week.
