MHC Dish From the Pitch 2014 Week 2 | Page 16

With the sun quickly approaching its zenith, the Trinity Rebel’s coming off of a narrow win the week before were looking for blood against the Slim McGinn’s Slaintes who would be taking the field for the first time this season. Slim’s looked like anything but an untested team.

Immediately taking control of the game, Slaintes’ players Danny McAulliffe, Ian Doherty and Aaron Krueger pounced on the ball with abandon. Their ferocious attack along with some truly excellent passing and communication allowed them five scoring opportunities in the first quarter alone - one goal and four points. Trinity, for their part, was not about to be cowed so early; also managing a goal in the first quarter.

Tough though the Slim’s defense might be, led by Captain Matt “Not-so” Ebert and Tom Hereley, Trinity was not about to roll over and die. Sibling Rebel forwards, Meghan and Christian Neuenschwander, bounced and fought for every opportunity they could; a significant feat with their opposition being nearly twice their size - Slim’s indeed!
