Rising involvement and interest in the U7 group this year has allowed us to welcome the MHC Mini Mites. These little guys and gals have pure drive and passion to play and are as young as three years old! We couldn’t keep them off the field any longer. They played hurley hokey pokey to learn about in and out of bounds, ran through a game of classic tag, and then worked in ball tag and possession. Evan Sulik and Lemmy Holtzman are the Mini Mite smiley twins and couldn’t get enough of the fun on the field.
With the U7s at 36 players we have had the opportunity to split into three different fields to allow the players more room to spread out and run. On field A the players are able to start using higher-level skills like getting the ball in their hands. We had Shoreview Pediatrics’ Antoinette Brilz fighting through other players’ swings and running her end of the field. If you’re looking for a tough girl, look no further. Antoinette will battle it out in the corners and do the dirty work to win the ball. Rookie Nico Holtzman from the Ritter Law Office team made an impressive double in the air to finish out the first half of the game. With skills like that in the first game we will have some great competition down on the North end of the pitch this season.
On field B the players focus on the importance of the ground game. Rookies Maeve Moloney, London Chase, Lorelei Kielley, and Eliot Tutaj-Blaz stepped on the field ready for battle. Maeve’s tenacity kept her in the play at all times while chasing her quick mark, London, all over the field. Lorelei and Eliot pounded in multiple goals on opposite ends of the field proving right off the bat that they’re offensive powerhouses.
The U7 group is the cutest part of the day, but don’t let those little bobbleheads fool you. They’re all warriors!
