Keeping the lights on and so much more If research grants are the lifeblood of the Martinos Center, the grants administration team is the beating heart at its core. Led by the incomparable Mary Roy and including Jody Roberts, Ashley D’Hooge and Nelson Gicana, the team plays an essential role in submitting and managing the many grants that drive Center investigators’ myriad scientific advances. Grants at a Glance These numbers for the 2017 fiscal year hint at the amount of work the grants team does. 5 269 applications submitted Among the areas that depend on the team’s talents: infrastructure. This past year saw a wave of new grants supporting both maintenance and expansion of the Center’s infrastructure, with the latter including the addition of cutting-edge imaging technologies such as a 7-Tesla human MRI system and an MR-compatible PET insert for a small-bore scanner. 85 awards received $61.8M total amount of the awards
