Castlevania:
Lords of Shadow:
The Music Box
Castlevania: LoS was one of the best action games of
the PS3 era. Using a template similar to God of War,
Castlevania arguably had more intricate combat and
more interesting scenarios. One of the best of these
scenarios is when Gabriel gets shrunk down by Baba
the witch and is placed inside a musical box to retrieve
a blue rose.
Filled with traps and puzzles, the music box changes
the pace of the game, which is very action-oriented
up until this point. Baba peers down into the box,
giving the section a sense of scale. You must traverse
mechanical platforms and run trap-filled gauntlets
filled with circular saws, cogs of death, electricity and
fire, placing the notes into the music box, with each
new part of the tune opening up a new section of the
mechanical contraption.

Although gruelling, this quest had to make the list on
imagination alone.
è Final Fantasy VII:
Crossdressing at
Wall Market
There are so many memorable moments in FFVII
– going into space, finding the ultimate weapon,
breeding a golden chocobo – but this has to be
the most unique. The goal of the quest is to dress
Cloud up like a woman to try and get the attention
of a local don, with an extra bonus given the more
womanly Cloud looks. To get the outfit, first you
must convince a drunken dressmaker to make a dress
for you – do you want soft and shimmery, or do you
fancy something shiny?
Next you should head to the gym, where you can
take part in a squatting competition with a local
beefcake – winning this nets you a blonde wig. You
get some cologne from a lady in the bar’s toilets, by
trading some digestive medicine with her, because of
course you do.
You also get a tiara from a vending machine. The
strangest happenings in the quest, however, take
place in the Honey Bee Inn, with implied naughtiness,
getting make-up from dancing girls and keyhole
voyeurism included. Most of it went over my head
as a child, but looking back at it, it’s surprising it ever
made it into the game.
