MEETING REPORT 17 TH NOVEMBER 2016
ecause of unforeseen circumstances and Alan’ s 70 th birthday party on the following Saturday, this meeting was held at the Clubrooms and supper was provided by several of the members. In fact the only people who did not contribute to supper were our guests, John and Jenny Hebron, old friends from Canberra. I think we can let them off this time, but when they come back for the National Meeting in April, I will expect more input. They will be driving our MGA – you can gauge that John must be a good friend to be given the use of Alan’ s“ love” for the weekend. Thank you to everyone.
It was a fine night and 17 members attended with a pleasing turnout of MGA’ s – seven in all and one MGB. It was also the first outing for David Archdall’ s MGA after his partial rebuild – see a separate article with photos.
The trouble with writing these reports in January – two months after the event – is that the memory is not good, however, what was memorable was a DVD we watched on MGA’ s and some other MG’ s. It was given to me by Dean Baker and I can recommend it. I have it at home if you would like to borrow it.
We had a number of apologies on the night, mainly due to the motorsport festival for the following three days organized by the Sporting Car Club. Some of our members participated in
36 the Prima Tour on the Friday and needed an early night to get the most from their entry.
Our next meeting will be at David Evan’ s home, 20 Weewanda St, Glenelg South. As there is parking on one side of the street only due to its proximity to the beach, it might be a good idea to arrive a little early. As David has not had a meeting before, can you ring him on 0419809848 so that he has some idea of the numbers for supper.
MGA / Magnette Christmas Lunch Run 4 December 2016
W ell the lunch run day arrived and as per usual for these outings it was either a hot, stinker of a day or the heavens opened and rain was the forecast. We had the latter. I have now decided to organize a December Lunch Run – perhaps if I don’ t mention Christmas we could get a nice day
We met at Beaumont Road in the parklands under various sized and coloured umbrellas. Four brave members arrived in MGA’ s and John and Rosie Miles arrived in their Magnette – its days like this that I wish we had a Magnette, but really four cars for two people, plus our son’ s restoration project is enough for any normal backyard.
We set off up Greenhill Road and followed it straight through to Balhannah. We kept an eye out for the group in the rear vision and thought we had lost a couple. We pulled over
