Centennial
This semester, Centennial is thrilled to launch a new volunteer program, creating fresh opportunities for community members to support adult learners. They are already seeing the impact; one dedicated Centennial student, meeting with her tutor online, is making incredible strides in her English language skills through our virtual learning platform.
Centennial continues to provide high-quality English as a Second Language( ESL) and basic skills classes across five levels. To ensure accessibility for all, classes are available in-person at Centennial High School, online, and through our valued partnership with the Centennial Square mobile home park.
Elk River
Elk River ABE is supported by a diverse group of volunteers who bring more than just their time— they bring heart, lived experiences, and a wide range of skills that make learning feel possible for every student.
Our volunteer team has grown in recent months. We have individuals from many walks of life: retired educators and business professionals, a college student, working professionals, and an artist. They are all community members who believe in the power of education.
Learners don’ t just gain academic skills; they gain confidence by working with people who believe in them and model lifelong learning.
Together, they create a welcoming space where students can build skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Columbia Heights / Fridley
In mid-January, all of the in-person class offerings at CHF were moved online due to lower attendance. CHF has continued with all online class offerings since that time. While many teachers have taught online in the past, we had several who were new to online instruction. Teachers have been very supportive in helping any colleagues who are new to online instruction: offering peer coaching in PLC meetings, conducting in-services, and inviting those teachers to observe their online classes. Thankfully the CHF site had been offering many online classes for the past six years and was able to provide immediate support to colleagues during this new temporary transition.
St. Francis
The St. Francis Adult Education Center recently moved to the Early Childhood and Family Center in Oak Grove, which is closer to the main transit routes. The aim of the move is to strengthen partnerships with St. Francis parents and families by establishing a central location for a wide range of resources and services, ultimately improving accessibility for the community.
We will be offering inperson classes four days a week, alternating between mornings and afternoons. We are excited to serve adults in St. Francis who are motivated to reach their full potential.
