Centennial
The Centennial ABE site moved to a new classroom at Centennial High School to better serve students in its ‘ Growing English as a Second Language ’ program . They offer classes in person and online to meet the growing needs of English language learners in Centennial , Lino Lakes , and Circle Pines .

In Spring 2023 , the first round of a new course , ESL Bridge to Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ), supported eight non-native Englishspeaking students to complete the CNA training through Prime Time Medical Training , LLC . The initial pilot of the IET ( Integrated Education and Training ) model was a success with all eight students completing the course . The course is being offered twice during the 2023-2024 program year , once in the fall , and again in the spring . There is a continued need for trained CNAs in the state of MN and this course provides extra English language support for non-native English speakers to complete the training and pass the state exam . Students in the course learn skills and knowledge needed to provide day-to-day care to patients in a variety of settings : nursing homes , hospitals , assisted living facilities , and home health care .

Elk River
Elk River ABE has partnered with Central Minnesota Jobs & Training Services ( CMJTS ) for Xcel Energy ’ s Power Up Program . The program ’ s goal is to expand diversity in trade careers through focused outreach to offer skilled training as well as navigation and support services to individuals . This program will prepare participants for entry into either apprenticeships or employment in energyrelated construction careers .
Elk River ABE ’ s role is to provide a construction math class . The class also works on blueprint reading and basic computer literacy . Additionally , it calls upon individuals in the community who work in construction trades to be guest speakers . The class runs in the fall of 2023 with a second cohort planned in the following year .

St . Francis
As St . Francis continues to scale up its classes , new classrooms and equipment are improving opportunities for students . Evening classes are now held in the St . Francis High School where classrooms have new promethean boards to allow teachers to make instruction more dynamic .
In the Isanti jail , classes have been so successful that the site is hoping to get a designated classroom with a whiteboard and computers . This would allow Metro North ABE to provide valuable instruction on writing resumes and cover letters , and how to use Microsoft suite products like Word , Excel , and PowerPoint .
