Anoka In the Anoka area cluster , the programs have embarked upon remote testing to conduct our mandatory intake and growth measure assessments . Having recognized a significant shift in our student population , a large number of whom now have a strong preference for an online-only educational experience , we needed to develop resources to facilitate the process . To adjust to the students ’ needs and increase the accessibility to our programs , Linda Keller , the consortium accountability coordinator , has been busy training staff to conduct the TABE test for our ABE students and the CASAS test for our ESL students . Several test sessions have been conducted with a great deal of success , and we are proud to embrace this new level of high-quality service to our clients and be even less intrusive to the normal processes of our cooperating partners . As we scale up our ability to conduct this process effectively , Metro North ABE continues to expand our ability to serve our community !

Blaine

Blaine continues to work to serve our increasing student population for our English Language Learning classes . We restructured classes to provide an additional level 2 class to accommodate the growing interest . Students still waiting for a class are also able to immediately engage in online learning , until an in-person seat opens up . Blaine continues to offer HyFlex learning at all of our levels . We have added three additional support staff to offer direct student support to ensure the quality of services for our in-person and online learners . We have also started to pilot remote assessment testing to accommodate learners , especially those with transportation barriers , and so far it has been a success .

Brooklyn Center

Immigrant and refugee families in the Brooklyn Center program had told staff about the lack of books to read to their children at home . The Brooklyn Center Adult Education Center staff quickly pulled together a short book drive before the winter break . Hundreds of books were collected through donations from neighborhood Buy Nothing groups , from the church that rents space for the school , and from ABE staff themselves .

A big thank you to all , for rising to the occasion on such short notice ! We were able to help connect families to a lot of new multilingual and English language books to share at home and to help build the love of reading .
