Anoka
At the Anoka sites , we are pleased to return to a number of on-site , inperson activities . The collaborative math classes in partnership with Anoka- Ramsey Community College , and the newly created math collaboration with Anoka Technical College , have programming that are in person on campus . These include classes and learner support sessions alike .
At the Anoka Technical College location , we have also begun hybrid ELL classes that have both in-person and online components based on our new , multi-medium core curriculum produced by Burlington English . The return of learners to onsite services has been slow , but we are hopeful of growth as people become more comfortable with the safety efforts around controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and feel confident of their well-being in this setting .
Meanwhile , both GED testing centers have reopened , and learners can register and schedule tests for our two sites at GED . com .

Blaine
The Blaine Learning Lab is excited to welcome back ABE teacher Meagan Hymes . Meagan is splitting her time between the Anoka County Sheriff ’ s Jail where she is providing GED instruction and the Blaine Learning Lab where she is working with the online diploma program . Meagan previously worked with both of these programs in a part time role before spending 4 years working with Hennepin County Corrections . With the position now full time , Blaine is working on expanding its current Minnesota State Adult Diploma program to include limited online credit recovery options .

Brooklyn Center
Brooklyn Center Adult Education Center site staff and learners returned after their summer break to a new model of class offerings . All three ESL class levels in the morning and evening are offering dual class options . Learners can choose to attend either an online or an in-person class . Each option meets for 1.5 hrs each day in this part time program ; both options continue to build English and digital literacy skills through the use of distance learning platforms .
According to ESL and Distance Learning ( DL ) teacher , MaryBeth Habel : “ Both in-person and online learners take advantage of the DL platforms such as Burlington English , MobyMax , and Read Theory . The in-person learners appreciate the extra support they receive in class to navigate the programs , so they can be more successful at home . The online learners like that they can continue studying English on the DL platforms without moving from their seat when their synchronous zoom class is finished .”
