You sign a contract when you join the team that says “will not miss more
than 3 practices” and “will attend most tournaments”. Don’t forget, practice
makes perfect!
A few more ingredients are 2 tablespoons listening, and 1 tablespoon helping. Archers have to listen to coaches and follow their directions. Archers also
need to help fellow archers, if they need help.
The final ingredient is 3 cups of good grades. To actually be on the archery
team the archer’s teacher has to approve their grades, homework, behavior,
and attendance. If any of those areas are below the teacher’s expectations,
then that person can’t be on the archery team, because Archery is a privilege.
If any of those areas drop, an archer can get kicked off the archery team until
they improve their grades.
Goals for Coaches and Archers
The most important goal for coaches is for all the archers to have fun. Another goal that both the archers and coaches have for all the archers on the
team is to improve their score by the end of the year. A goal for archers is
show up to MOST practices and tournaments. Coaches want to help archers
as much as they can to improve their score. Of course, a lot of archers have
their own personal goal.
Final Recipe
I hope you learned how hard archers and coaches work to have fun. The final recipe is 1 cup of learning, 4 cups of dedication, 3 cups of good grades, 2
tablespoons listening, 1 tablespoon helping, and some physical skills. Archery
takes a lot of work and effort, but is really fun!
