Divide the ropes into 4 groups of 4 and put 3 of those groups aside for now, Take 1 group and tie an overhand knot (lessons for overhand knot can be found here. You're welcome).

Separate the pieces of rope. The first rope on the left is rope 1, followed by rope 2 and rope 3 with rope 4 being the last one on the right.

Pick up rope 1 and place it over ropes 2 and 3 and over rope 4. Wrap that same rope back under ropes 2 and 3 and up through the loop just created.

S T E P E I G H T

Keep going down the ropes tying half knots until you have tied 12 knots. End the last knot with an overhand knot. Repeat with the other groups of rope.

S T E P N I N E

Choose two groups of rope next to each other and lay flat on a table. Part the groups so that two ropes from one group will join with two ropes from the other group.

S T E P T E N

Starting with the left side, create a loop with the rope going behind the other. Place the right ropes over the loop.
