HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT STARTING UP YOUR OWN BUSINESS, ANY TIPS FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS?

Ask for help from experts, I highly recommend attending inspirational conferences, like ‘Semi-Permanent’. One of last year’s guest speakers was Sandra Dieckmann, what a talented young entrepreneur, her thoughts reflect my own, just start doing stuff you love, work hard, don’t let negativity stop you and it’s ok to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.

HOW DO YOU EVENLY DISTRIBUTE YOUR DESIGN INSPIRATIONS FOR BOTH YOUR PROFESSIONAL AND WORK LIFE? IS ONE EASIER THAN THE OTHER?

It’s not that hard. At work we have a clear vision that defines the Seafolly brand. We work as a team on key trends and colours for each season. The process is quite formal. The designs I create for myself are random ideas that bubble up to the surface of my mind sometimes in dreams, completely unrelated to swimwear. Perhaps this serves as a process of equilibrium. On impulse I react to something I’ve seen somewhere and then I make it come to life. My time is limited so each piece is very special to me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ROOM WITHIN YOUR INTERIOR SPACE

I must admit the living room is my favorite - it’s open and airy with high ceilings and a stunning view. When family and friends visit, we all gravitate to it, we just sit there chatting, munching and relaxing, while the kids are going crazy in the ‘manboy-cave’!

WHERE DO YOU RETREAT TO WHEN YOU'RE IN NEED OF A PALETTE CLEANSE AND FRESH PERSPECTIVE FOR DESIGN IDEAS?

My first thought would be a daytrip into the city, first stop the Art Gallery of NSW, then a stroll through Hyde Park and then some shopping! That would be my ideal palette cleansing technique. However when at work, popping into the city is not always an option, so the next best thing is a stroll down to the local library for some literary silence.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS A PERSON IF YOU HAD TO USE THREE WORDS?

That’s a hard question, but here goes; Creative, Positive & Loyal.

WHAT KIND OF STYLE WOULD YOU SAY YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS ENCOMPASSES?

The only brief I follow is: ‘Each piece must make my eyes happy!”

I’m just having fun experimenting with techniques and ideas. I actually started my company The Digital Weaver as a quiet little nod to my lovely mum who passed away. Turns out its fabulously liberating and soothing, not to mention a fantastic way to keep in touch with my artistic self. I have so many ideas floating around in my mind that the need to get them onto a surface is overwhelming! So many of my friends kept telling to do something for myself, I finally listened. Society6 was a great way to start releasing my artwork to the public:
