If you’re drawn to the sweet smell of PVA glue and have an organiser stashed under your bed filled with fabric off-cuts — chances are you and Fiona of Craft Hunter have something in common. Fiona’s DIY inspired craft blog encapsulates what can only be described as enviously crafted pieces for the home.
Inspired by interior magazines, Pinterest DIY pinners and fellow craft bloggers, Craft Hunter is a way for Fiona to connect with the growing DIY community. Originally intended as a platform to share her interests Fiona has realised how thoroughly enjoyable it is to create and shoot her own projects.
Fiona describes her crafty style as heavily influenced by the simple and functional work of Scandinavian design, mixed with clean, modern lines and spaces. We can’t get past the effortlessly beautiful geometric art in Craft Hunter’s ‘DIY Project Gallery’ - not to mention Fiona’s personal favourite mini house pin-board. There’s a project for everyone in Craft Hunter Gallery, whether you seek a chic geometric mousepad or a lesson on polymer clay beads.
Juggling a demanding Public Relations job in the interiors industry by day Fiona gets in the DIY ‘zone’ by shuffling into a comfy pair of pants, pouring a warm cup of tea and settling into a space that’s ready for crafty chaos.
It’s no wonder a lot of the pieces seen on Crafty Hunter end up in Fiona’s home as she describes it as an added bonus and motivator to transfer ideas seen in the design world into affordable decorations for her place.
If all this crafty talk makes you nervous - don’t despair! Just like many of Fiona’s DIY triumphs she has also had her fair share of craft mishaps, including the tricky work of trying to transform an old picture frame into a restored masterpiece - which needless to say had an unfortunate end. Fiona assures us that craft can be for everyone and recommends starting with quick and simple projects that are guaranteed to work.
We can expect new and exciting things in the future as Fiona hopes to experiment with copper piping inspired by the industrial look and a few other secret projects up her sleeve.
