The humble beginnings of the terrarium originally materialised as a mistake - a beautiful, glorious mistake. Originating back to the far stretches of the universe, the terrarium was believed to encapsulate plants from the toxic sediments of the Victorian Era. Today the glassed foliage is making a come back in a big and quirky kind of way.
The terrarium craze of the 21st century could be attributed to a number of factors - we got sick of killing our pot plants, cats became predators of our unprotected ferns or something far bigger and much more spiritual.
Outside is brought in with the adornment of nature, carefully constructed and housed in a glass display case for all to admire. There's something special about the way a terrarium interacts within an indoor space. Refractions of light tantalise the aesthetic seeker's eyes, connecting one world to the other.
Innovation has transformed the terrarium into necklaces, hanging glass features and of course the traditional metal clad pieces with an edgy geometric twist.
Founder of Miniscapes Melbourne, Clea began making terrariums as a hobby, "I'd always been interested in gardening and enjoyed designing these miniature landscapes to mimic nature."
Clea's work has blossomed over the years, catching the attention of many a green thumb who swoon over her whimsical glass creations. Miniscape captures the imagination of onlookers -recently commisioned by big name clients such as the Australian Tennis Open VIP Lounge.
