6. Events Vancouver AGM and Conference“ Leading Excellence”
The Vancouver AGM and Conference netted a positive result even though there were 250 fewer delegates, 40 fewer tickets for the Gala, and only 80 % of the Trade Show booths were sold. This was mostly due to the economic downturn, and it was also a“ Las Vegas Mining Conference” year which further negatively impacted the outcome. These were anticipated and budgets were adjusted to realistically meet these challenges to result in a positive financial outcome.
The MER participated in the development and delivery of the technical program. The Technical Program shell had a total of 43 sessions of which only 6 sessions were unallocated, leaving 32 sessions. MER provided leadership and delivered on 5 sessions or 16 % while the other 7 groups delivered the balance.
