MER Today Spring 2017 MER Newsletter - May2017 | Page 17
The printed version of the CIM Journal is no longer distributed to CIM members due to budget
limitations and this also supports ongoing efforts to reduce paper use and the related GHG
climate change footprint. The Journal is available online to members at the website listed below.
Beginning in 2016, authors have been offered the option to publish an early view (pre‐print)
version of their accepted manuscript, which is also available for download at the website:
http://www.cim.org/en/Publications‐and‐Technical‐Resources/Publications/CIM‐Journal.aspx
This allows members to get faster access to the recent state‐of‐the art in this field, and shortens
the period between acceptance and publication, which is critical for academic authors. CIM
Journal joined CrossRef in 2015, which means that all published articles are assigned Digital
Object Identifiers or DOIs. These not only make it easier for readers to find and download CIM
Journal papers, it supports applications to Scopus (Engineering Index) and Thomson Reuters
(Science Citation Index) to be considered for indexing, thus allowing the Journal to begin to build
an impact factor.
CIM members now have access to OneMine, the largest mining database, which hosts papers
from CIM, SME, AIME and AUSiM and others. To access OneMine, users simply log in at the CIM
website (https://www.cim.org/en/Login.aspx), and then go to PUBLICATIONS AND TECHNICAL
RESOURCES on the blue bar at the top of the page.
Although upgrades to the online peer review system have not been completed, authors and peer
reviewers are welcome to contact Janice Burke ([email protected]) if they need assistance with the
existing system.
