GAME ON
First came the Dorset Game Larder in 2007,
supplying local butchers, pubs and restaurants with
game sourced from shoots in the county. From there,
the Dorset Larder, which opened in 2012 in the heart
of Blandford, was the natural progression.
If the store front and canopy doesn’t instantly evoke
a traditional butchers, what’s on sale inside certainly
will. You’ll find pork belly and loin, dry cured and
smoked bacon, free range chicken, every cut of beef
you can imagine, along with lamb leg, shoulder and
mince. And 80 percent of the meat is Dorset-reared.
You can order online your venison steaks, pigeon,
partridge, grouse, pheasant or duck in season. But
don't forget, the Dorset Larder is also a great deli with
a range of local cheeses and preserves…

TAKE A BUTCHERS
You don't so much pop into The Udder Farm Shop as
spend the afternoon, as there’s an on-site butchers,
fishmongers, deli, catering kitchen and coffee shop to
get through, as well as a playground for the children.
The bright and airy farm shop pays homage to
artisanal brands – from Stokes Sauces to Syms
Bacon Mayonnaise – and Dorset is represented with
plenty of local produce, including fresh bread from
Taylors and beers from Cerne Abbas Brewery
and the Dorset Brewing Company.
You can also pick up cheeses, Scotch eggs, quiches
and terrines from the deli counter, or order a cheese
hamper with local chutneys to go.
