Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder
A pattern of flashbacks and other symptoms that occurs in children who have experienced a phychologically distressing event such as physical or sexual abuse, being a victim or witness of violence, or exposure to some other traumatic event such as a bombing or hurricane.
TRAUMA DOES NOT EQUAL PTSD
Remember that trauma and PTSD are not the same thing. Only when symptoms of trauma remain more than three months after the initial event is it classified as PTSD. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most effective form of treatment as well as medications to manage the symptoms.
