Getting closer to the Suetra harbour resort, fancy cars were parked in the parking lot in an imposing manner. As I got of the car, the men were standing there for my luggage. Wandering around the lobby, women were spotted with Louis Vuitton suitcases and calfskin bags. Waiting in the nice and comfortable couch, pretty woman in uniform approached me with a menu asking “Would you like something to drink?” I ordered caramel macchiato as sweet and creamy as the place. Across the place where I was sitting, a lady wearing silky velvet scalf and dotted with iridescent beads was flipping the pages of New York Times. Soon, she stood up with a NY Times tucked under her arm as if it was by far the best accessory a woman can have. After the sip of my coffee, I wanted to go to my room to have some rest. Going up, sophisticated marbles decorated in the elevator caught my eyes. As I opened the door of my room, two big beds were organized very neatly and bathroom with big tub was almost the size of the room. What was really attractive was there when I opened the door out to veranda. I could see dignified yachts anchored at the colored beach. Behind the beach, a few colossal skyscrapers almost dismissed some people around with a regal bearing. said, “I would like to have fresh big burger with red onions, baked bacons, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers and cheese on it with Ranch and Mustard.” It was all the toppings listed on the menu and I got them all. “Would you like something to drink?”

I was impressed again with her more English like pronunciations since I’ve had some difficulties understanding Malaysian English. I answered, “Orange juice, please.”

These days, one of the biggest worries for Malaysian government is the huge gap between urban and rural areas. The gap in the income leads to even severe gap in education they get. So, they are trapped in vicious circles. The sound of my stomach broke out of a vicious circle. I took up the phone and dialed to the Food & Beverage service counter. The woman got the phone saying “This is Food & Beverage section, may I help you?” This was the most understandable English I’ve heard during my travel. Presumably, it proved that I was in one of the most luxury hotel. As I have mentioned above, there was wide gap between the rich and poor in education field, and English was no exception.

After having nice and big lunch, I went outside for a walk. All the people were enjoying their time with one of the best background they might not have any longer. Others admired their life with their wealth. But, they looked like they were missing something. And they looked like they’ve hung ‘No Disturbance’ sign on their neck. They looked isolated and even empty. Then, the eyes of little boy and his mother just popped up in front of my eyes.

I had one more day left until I went back to Korea. I was supposed to go shopping and do spa for my last day. In fact, those were the things that I’ve expected the most. As I get on the car ready for me in front of the hotel, the driver asked me “Where are you going?” and I answered “Hanukan market, please” with no hesitance. On the way to the market, I questioned myself. What is the true happiness in our life?
