Red Velvet Draws Comparisons To f(x), Garners 25,000 Dislikes Within 24 Hours On YouTube

On July 31, Red Velvet unveiled the music video to their first single "Happiness," and in less than 24 hours, has already garnered over 25,000 dislikes on YouTube.

Allegedly, Red Velvet is also receiving severe backlash due to the abrupt end to SM's previous active group f(x), after promoting for only three weeks. The group is also being criticized for being too similar in style to f(x).

"So they stopped supporting f(x) just to try and make another f(x) in the safari?" asked Edem Xeonu.

"It's like f(x) and 2NE1's styles combined into one song," wrote kzoldycks on allkpop. "There's nothing unique from the new girl group."

"After giving this a few listens it's not so bad," commented sharebearexo12. "Their vocals are amazing, but why do I feel like f(x) could also pull of this kind of theme?"

On July 7, f(x) came back with "Red Light," a full-length album which has garnered great success, particularly for their lead single of the same name. However, f(x) member Sulli has decided to take a hiatus from promotional activities, effectively halting the group's activities.

The fact that SM Entertainment has decided to debut a new girl group less than a month after f(x)'s highly anticipated comeback is causing a lot of anger and concern amongst the latter's fanbase.

"I'm not a super fan of f(x) but I fear that f(x) could suffer the same thing as Super Junior," wrote Tabbi-Channie. "Now that EXO is here SM has moved [Super Junior] aside to give more spotlight to EXO. I hope I'm wrong though."
