– Thelma Diaz
COMPASSION & CARE job . Very accustomed to creating positions for herself , she decided to take things one step further and start her own practice . She found a physician to sponsor her and opened the doors to SW Collaborative Healthcare Solutions .
At first , Diaz thought she might expand the type of care offerings at her practice , but eventually , she decided that she loved wound care and wanted to stick to it . “ I ’ ve been very successful in healing patients , and that ’ s what I want to keep doing ,” she said . Today , her clinic operates as part of the hospital and has four RNs , one technician , and a front office staff member .
Not only does the team help treat and dress wounds but they ’ re also introducing cutting-edge healing modalities to patients , like hyperbaric oxygen . “ Since 2017 , we ’ ve been running hyperbaric oxygen chambers ,” said Diaz . These chambers help heal wounds by bringing oxygen to oxygen-starved tissues that are starting to die . Wounds need oxygen to heal , and these chambers are changing the landscape for wound care .
THE COMPLEXITIES OF RUNNING A BUSINESS
When Diaz started her business , she relied on Quick Claimers Medical Billing to help her get the proper credentials in place and manage the back-end processing needed to open her doors . “ Getting credentialed with insurance companies can take three to six months , and that ’ s just a small part of it ,” she explained . “ Quick Claimers helped me navigate all of that so I could focus on the clinical side in the early days .”
Now , after a fulfilling career , Diaz is looking at retiring . At this point in her career , she ’ s turning to Quick Claimers once again . “ I ’ m trying to find that perfect person who will be as passionate as I am about wound care ,” she shared . “ Once I find my replacement , Quick Claimers is in place to help me get them credentialed .” Although she ’ s leaving her practice sometime in the near future , Diaz knows her work in wound care will continue in some capacity .
“ I ’ ll always be doing this somewhere ,” she said with a smile .
