We cannot fully exhaust on the importance of education. This importance is from a global concept where education strikes as the most emphasized need by the legends that have been there overtime. One famous legend said “I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality, and freedom for their spirits”.
The American education system is one that is highly praised for its global acceptance and dual accreditation. Having interacted with the students and staff of the American University, we have a broader picture to explore on how students are guided to the completion of their studies till they are employed.
The bigger percentage of the students in the university work hard so as to secure employment in one of the big corporates in America and around the globe. The course advisors and directors also guide them the students on how they can secure thee jobs. This has often been accorded the term ‘connections’ which is just a simplified version of the real deal behind it. For a student to get ‘connected’ to a great organization for their internship or a career, there are factors that have to be considered. The student has to have a really impressive GPA otherwise the chance is given to one who attains the same. Equally, the student has to show interest by seeking this advice from the authorized staff, lecturers or the course advisors. The student has to also make a follow up of the same.
These factors are really crucial and are keenly followed up as the criteria. This ensures that unqualified students do not land themselves opportunities that they really did not work hard for at the same time denying another their due. This also ensures that the employment sector remains very relevant and with qualified individuals.
America comes off to be one that is very conservative of their culture and this applies as so for their education. One of the compulsory things that pupils and students must do is have an educational tour of the monuments that are within Washington DC. The monuments represent the history of America with a very keen eye on their legends. Every monument describes the struggles of the particular legends and the wars they had to endure so as to bring freedom to the Americans. The students and pupils get to be very hands-on and they also get a very practical sense and feel on the history of America. Some of the monuments include, statues of the Fallen soldiers, the Abraham Lincoln monument and the Martin Luther King JR. memorial.
The students of the New York Film Academy have a great testimony on their advantage to having a great exposure and interaction with individuals from their own field of study. The students with a major in arts and film get to interact with the global film stars and producers within that industry. They are able to get advice on how to embrace their field of work and how to keep up with the changes that happen every so often. Students also get to have some of their classes through the MET which is one of the biggest museums in the world. The global history that comes with that is unsurpassable! History on the Catholicism, the Spanish culture and the Byzantium just to mention but a few.
What about the journalists, you may ask. The media is very fluid and has spoken out into its own freedom. There is so much awareness that has been and continues to be emphasized on the presence of fake news in the country and around the globe. The media tries to demystify the thin line between what is the real news and what is the fake news. For example, when the media captures unjustifiable acts of a prominent person, say, the president, and the president directs that to be fake news, then the media must come into play for the sake of the public. All must be aware and the truth must be presented in a bid to protect the media and the public. George Orwell, an author, says, “If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” In the Newseum, there are posters that highlight this such as “Fake news spreads lies and undermines the media”, “Fake news inspires violence” and “How to spot fake news” among others.
The media in America also takes up on a global perspective by highlighting the headlines that appear on newspapers from around the globe. They also capture great art pieces from around the world, going ahead to have a section for ‘The picture of the year’ wall in the Newseum. Great pictures that tell moving stories from around the world are also displayed. Yes, African stories have been creatively put together too.
