TATTOO REMOVAL
Tattoos were all the rage in the 90s but seem to have cooled off lately. Consequently, tattoo removal has become big
business. Tattoo removal basically entails using laser. Not all types of lasers are equally effective, and pulsed light
technology is one of the most successful.
Using this therapy, localized pulses of light are applied on the ink of the tattoo which decomposes the pigment clusters. The
body’s lymphatic system filters the tiny ink particles and the body gets rid of them naturally leading to the tattoo gradually
fading over a period of several weeks. Different lasers with varying wavelengths might be necessary if the tattoo is very
colorful. Several sessions are usually required to completely remove the tattoo. How quickly the tattoo fades away usually
depends on the proximity to the heart, with areas such as ankles and feet taking longer. The risk of side effects is usually
minimal with no downtime.
