Analysing the Prologue Act 1 Scene 1 A Prologue: ü Passes on information about plot, character or theme to the audience. ü Acts as a blurb would in a book. ü Acts as a commentary to the play, allowing the author to pass on relevant information to the audience. ü Challenges the audience to think of particular issues. ü Encourages audience to watch the play with certain expectations.
