Filip Terescak What is the Student Council 5th Year MCC Zofia Terzyk and Filip Terescak 6th Year MPP Lelaina Butler-Whyte and Robert Parker 6th Year MCC The student council is a group of students elected by other students to address issues and concerns of the students in MEC. Ellie Haran and Eddie Bycius Elected Members What the Student Council does The student council consists of 4 students per each year group, two from Maynooth Post Primary and two Maynooth Community College. In each of the year group, there are two female and two male representatives. The student council has a meeting every week to discuss issues that have been brought forward to the representatives that week. Anyone can bring an issue to their representative. How are Students Elected Students nominate themselves at the start of the academic year. They need two other students to sign off on the nomination. An election is then held with all the students that were nominated. The student with the most votes becomes the representative for their year group 08 Maynooth Education Campus This year the student council’s main concerns will be the issue of school jackets and to focus on ways to make our schools more environmentally friendly by reducing waste and recycling.
