Introducing Some of Our New International Students

Hi , my name is Andrea . I ’ m from Catalonia in Spain . I came to Ireland a year ago for my mum ’ s work . I think it is one of the best things that has ever happened in my life . I was able to make new friends and improve my level of English . I have also been able to see Ireland from a different perspective and experience its beautiful culture .
I was scared at first starting in a new school and learning through another language but after a month I had settled in and wasn ’ t scared anymore . I do miss Spain but I ’ m thankful to have the opportunity to study in another country .
Hi , my name is Anchisa ( Poppy ). I ’ m from Thailand . I ’ ve been living in Ireland for a year . We moved to Ireland for work reasons . I have one younger sister , Anusara ( Palm ). She is in Transition Year . I like living in Ireland . In Thailand the weather is very hot . I prefer the Irish weather . I love the tourist attractions here . I hope to travel more in Ireland when it is safe to do so . The Irish people are very warm and friendly . In my free time , I like art and drawing . I am quite artistic . I ’ m very happy living here .
Hello ! My name is Amelia , and I am a new student in Maynooth Community College this year . I came to Ireland in January last year from Ukraine , but already feel really welcomed , like I am a part of the community . I quite enjoy it here in Ireland , even though the weather is never consistent , and it rains a lot . I like the landscapes , the access to the ocean and what pleases my eyes the most is , of course , a lot of green 365 days a year .
I am looking forward to 5 th year since I will be able to study my favourite subjects like art and music , unlike back in Ukraine , where we don ’ t choose our subjects . Even though it could be hard learning in a foreign language such as english , I try to take on any opportunity regarding my education in hope for a better future .
