Positive Changes Rolled Out
By Student Council

Following on from concerns voiced by the students
around access to sanitary products, the Student Council
along with Dep. Donohoe have put signs up in every
female bathroom to ensure that all students are aware of
how to access these items.
Nobody should have to feel embarrassed or stuck if they
find themselves without sanitary products in school so
tampons and sanitary towels are freely available to all
students. As of March 2019, the UK government provide
free sanitary items to all schools to combat period
poverty - it would be great to see the Department of
Education make similar funding available to Irish schools.
Eco Week
The student council, along with the Eco Committee will be running an Eco Week from the 27th-31st January.
The aim is to raise awareness for all staff and students of the amount of waste being created every day in the
school, and to provide valuable information on how we can reduce our carbon footprint. Information on how
to properly recycle will be the main focus of the week. There will also be a push to reduce single use plastic
bottles by all students and staff, along with the creation of eco bricks. More information on Eco Week will be
released in the upcoming weeks.
