MECPTA Career Evening
The annual MECPTA career evening took
place in the sports hall on Thursday 14th
November. The evening was open to all
senior cycle students and their parents
and guardians.
248 students signed in on the night and
14 major colleges attended. 54 adult
volunteers from all professions, from
pilots to special needs assistants,
engineers to beauticians along with
apprenticeships and PLC courses also
attended with all areas well represented
on the night.
Feedback was very positive for the event
especially from TYs who said they found
it helpful to learn about course
requirements to focus on choosing
subjects for Leaving Cert and many found
it helpful to speak with colleges for the
first time in a relaxed atmosphere in their
own school. The adult volunteers all
enjoyed the experience and there was a
great community spirit at the event.
Thank You @MECPTA
Many thanks to the guidance department,
the caretakers and all the adult volunteers
both on the PTA and from our local
community who answered our call to help. It
is much appreciated and we hope that all our
students will continue to benefit from the
event in the future.
Many thanks also to Bank of Ireland who
very kindly gave a pair of Bluetooth
earphones on the night to raffle among the
students who signed in. Well done to winner
Megan Stanley McKenna.
